Abstract Art: From Gallery & into the home

 As a gallery dealing in Modern & Contemporary Art, Abstract art is a cornerstone of our stock, as would be expected, given that it has formed a central stream in the Modern Art movement since circa 1900. However, over a century of abstraction has not lessened its power to divide opinion. Commonly overheard in the gallery are the classic phrases - “I don't get abstract art”, “What is it meant to be?” or  the ubiquitous “My kid could do that”. Introducing Renee Spierdijk to The Art Hound Gallery

Renee Spierdijk was Born is Amsterdam and trained at The Byam Shaw School of Art where she gained an L.D.A.D. and B.S.Dip. Hons. and an MA from Goldsmith's College in 1987. She has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Renee is both a highly technical painter and a printmaker, using a wide variety of media in her works: from oil paint to gold leaf, to silkscreens to mono printing, she often details individual prints with handmade stencils and calligraphy.
