A good Art Gallery is a not a just shop to buy house decorations. A Gallery is cultural space. A place to champion creativity, thoughts, ideas both new and old, and to engage with art and its commentary on the world. It is a place to engage with culture and to escape the increasingly ubiquitous high street experience. Buying a great artwork is not equivalent to a simply buying a nice picture. The Art Hound Gallery Pop Art 'Pop' Up at Benets' Cambridge, King's Parade

We're only just recovered from our first Central Cambridge 'Take Over'. Friday May 11th saw The Art Hound Team spread the Pop Art vibe to Benets' cafe on the famous King's Parade in the middle of Cambridge. As we hung works by Warhol and Robert Indiana, overlooking the stately King's College Chapel resulting in a fascinating juxtaposition, we pondered why many Cambridge people, living so close to London, seemed to often revel in a conservative approach to the arts, expressing amazement over the genres of work we stock. Introducing Renee Spierdijk to The Art Hound Gallery

Renee Spierdijk was Born is Amsterdam and trained at The Byam Shaw School of Art where she gained an L.D.A.D. and B.S.Dip. Hons. and an MA from Goldsmith's College in 1987. She has been a professional artist for over 30 years. Renee is both a highly technical painter and a printmaker, using a wide variety of media in her works: from oil paint to gold leaf, to silkscreens to mono printing, she often details individual prints with handmade stencils and calligraphy.
