Basia Lautman

Polish born Basia Lautman is a contemporary artist living and working in West London. Having studied at Central St Martin’s College of Art, Basia’s work embraces both her own witty world of fantastical creatures and her own comical commentary on society.

Whilst creating illustrations, etchings and paintings, Basia is surrounded by an ever-changing canine menagerie of dogs of all breeds, shapes and sizes. She found that working as an artist was the perfect vocation to combine with dog-sitting, as the hounds are more than happy to curl up with her for the day as she sits with her sketchbook. Naturally, the dogs soon became her subjects and her dog portraits have become highly sought after. Basia has exhibited her work many times at the Royal Academy, with editions of her work selling out.

Basia often works alongside a number of other Art Hound Gallery artists, including abstract Swiss artist François Pont and fellow animal enthusiast Kate Boxer. The trio often exhibited together informally as ‘The Chocolate Group’ and master print maker Francois often makes prints of Basia’s original work.

The Art Hound Gallery is delighted to offer custom dog portraits from Basia Lautman to our clients. For further information please call or email us.
