Brand new to the Art Hound, we are delighted to be showing the multi-media works of Bethany Perry. Inspired by performance and the female form, her work is a re-capturing of women's bodies in every sense. The starting point of Bethany Perry's paintings is usually a body impression, made by painting the physical body and imprinting it onto canvas, reminiscent of French artist Yves Klein, who shocked the world with his 'Anthropometry' paintings in the 1960s, using the same technique. Bethany Perry moves the work to the next stage, by painting intricate designs of nature on top, whilst exploring textures of paint, resins and glitters.
Bethany Perry has taken Yves Klein's concept to another level. Her love of performance inspired her to master the art of striptease, with her time as an exotic dancer unleashing a wildness and expressive freedom evident in her visual art. Whilst a background in high end makeup artistry working with top designers, magazines, and celebrities including GQ, Kansai Yamamoto, Vivianne Westwood, RIMMEL London lends Bethany Perry's artwork a particular glamorous multidimensional look.
As well as using physical performance to actually create her original paintings, she captures performance in her print work, with new media drawings of exotic dancers, hand embellished with gold leaf and glitters.
The end result is a collection of artworks which truly celebrate the female form as at once daring and expressive whilst delicate and ultimately, beautiful.
Since establishing her artistic career Bethany Perry has gained acclaim and exhibited with institutions including The Mondrian Curtain Club, Boomer Gallery, Gallery 21, and Every Women Biennial.
The Art Hound Gallery are proud to present our new collection of unique body impressions and hand finished New Media print works, all exclusively available through our gallery.
